§ 1.1. Name and boundaries.

  • (a)

    The territory now existing and known as Pontiac Township shall be incorporated as a body corporate and shall include all the territory constituting the unincorporated area of Pontiac Township, T.3N., R1OE., Oakland County, Michigan, except that part within the limits of the Village of Lake Angelus and also except that part described as beginning at the West XI corner of Section 7, T.3N., R.1O., and proceeding easterly along the East and West ¼ line of said Section 7 to a point on the westerly line of Lake Angelus Shores Road; thence northwesterly along the southwesterly line of said Lake Angelus Shores Road to the west line of said Section 7; thence southerly along said west line of Section 7 to the point of beginning. The above area being more particularly described as beginning at the southeast corner of Section 36, being the intersection of the centerlines of Adams Road and South Boulevard, and proceeding along the north limits of Bloomfield Township west approximately two (2) miles coincident with said centerline of South Boulevard; thence along the east limits of the City of Pontiac north approximately 1¾ miles; thence along the centerline of Opdyke Road northerly approximately ¼ mile to the centerline of Featherstone Road; thence west along the centerline of Featherstone Road to the east limits of the City of Pontiac; thence along the east limits of the City of Pontiac north approximately 2½ miles; thence along the northerly limits of the City of Pontiac west approximately 1¾ miles coincident with the East and West ¼ lines of Sections 9 and 10, and north approximately ¾ miles coincident with the North and South 1/8 lines of the Northwest ¼ of Section 9 and the Southwest ¼ of Section 4, and west approximately ¼ mile coincident with the East and West 1/8 line of said Southwest ¼ of Section 4, and north approximately ¼ mile coincident with the west line of Section 4, and west 487.60 feet coincident with the East and West ¼ line of Section 5, and south 350.50 feet, and southwesterly 272.50 feet on a line parallel to and 25 feet northwesterly of the westerly line of the Grand Trunk Railroad right-of-way, and west 82.08 feet, and north 544.61 feet, and west approximately 0.1 miles coincident with said East and West ¼ line of Section 5, and south approximately 0.4 miles coincident with the North and South 1/8 line of the S.E. ¼ of Section 5, and east approximately ¼ mile, and south approximately 1/8 mile coincident with the east line of Section 5, and west approximately 1/8 mile coincident with the south line of Section 5, and south approximately ¼ mile, and northwesterly approximately 0.15 mile coincident with the centerline of Collier Road, and south approximately 0.30 mile coincident with the east line of the Grand Trunk Railroad right-of-way, and west approximately 0.36 mile coincident with the East and West ¼ line of Section 8; thence along the easterly limits of the Village of Lake Angelus, northwesterly approximately 0.36 miles coincident with the centerline of Baldwin Road, and north approximately 5/8 mile coincident with the centerline of Baldwin Road; thence along the northerly limits of the Village of Lake Angelus westerly approximately 1.3 miles coincident with the centerline of Lake Angelus Road; thence along the east limits of Waterford Township north approximately 0.3 mile coincident with the centerline of Rohr Road; thence along the south limits of Orion Township east approximately six (6) miles coincident with the north lines of Sections 1 thru 6, inclusive, and being in part the centerlines of Brown and Dutton Roads; thence along the west limits of Avon Township south approximately six (6) miles coincident with the east lines of Sections 1, 12, 13, 24, 25 and 36, being in part the centerline of Adams Road to the point of beginning, together with all territories that may be added or deleted in a manner prescribed by law, and shall be known as the City of Auburn Hills.

    (Note: The proposed city does not include all of the present Pontiac Township. The part of the Village of Lake Angelus that is in Pontiac Township and that part that is in Waterford Township desired to retain their separate village status. This necessitated also leaving out fifty (50) vacant acres which are contiguous to only the Village of Lake Angelus and to the City of Pontiac and not to Pontiac Township. Also left out is a six (6) acre parcel which is a part of the Silverdome parking lot and is in litigation with the City of Pontiac.)

    The clerk shall maintain and keep available in the clerk's office for public inspection the official description and map of the current boundaries of the city.
